Chaperon (French chaperon) is a medieval headdress. At first it was a hood with a long shlyk (cap) and a cape, then it turned into a magnificent and rather expensive structure resembling a turban, additionally decorated with festoons. In the Middle Ages (XII—XIII), the chaperone was both a male and female headdress. In the XIV century, men began to wear a chaperone with a hard side. In parallel with this, the shlyk lengthened, and it began to be draped over the side or around the head in such a way that the narrow part of the tail descended to the shoulder [1]. The fashion for wearing a chaperone came from Burgundy, at the beginning of the XV century it covered the whole of Western Europe, by the end of the same century it gradually disappeared, and the chaperone returned to its original, purely utilitarian role. Sheperons can be with or without festoons , one - colored or multicolored, with or without lining , made of cloth and linen . They adorn the costume and image and are suitable for many events.
Hood is a slightly simpler product than a chaperone - without a tail and decor . But it can still be made of cloth, with lining and with colored edging and almost any color. Hood is a historical piece of clothing, a shoulder cape covering the head, shoulders and chest.
