Nazguli (black adverb: Nazgûl, "ghost of the ring", from Nazg (ring) + Gûl (ghost) — in Tolkien's legendarium there are nine lords from the race of people enslaved by the Ring of Omnipotence and who became servants of Sauron. The leader of the Nazgul was a man who was skilled in sorcery during his lifetime. His exact name is unknown, in the annals of Middle-earth he was called "The Sorcerer King of Angmar". When the kingdom of Angmar appeared on the map of Middle-Earth in the Third Epoch, he led it and crushed the Arnor principalities one by one. The first mention of the Nazguls is marked by the year 2250 of the Second Epoch; they also appeared in 3441 A.D.; again seen in Middle-earth around 1300 of the Third Epoch. Other names: Black Riders (Eng. Black Riders), Ring Ghosts (Eng. Ringwraith), Ring Bearers ,Nine , Winged Shadow, Ulairi.
