The Romanesque sword is a type of European sword of the period of the High and, partly, the Late Middle Ages (or, more precisely, from about 1000 to 1350), used in Western Europe almost exclusively by the knights' estate, and in Russia — in the princely army. Their other name is Capetian[1], probably by analogy with Carolingian. Together with the swords of the XIV—XV centuries in our time, they are sometimes combined with the term "knight's sword", (knightly sword)[2], or arming sword — letters. "sword for armament", that is, carrying as an auxiliary weapon. It should be remembered that all the names given (except to some extent arming sword, which has been used since the late Middle Ages, although in a slightly different meaning) are retronyms introduced by gun historians, weapon collectors and reenactors. At the time when such a weapon was in active use, it was simply called a "sword"
